What Kera doesn't do here

Things people ask about that Kera doesn't support, with a workaround where there is one.

Post a vacancy to rental listing sites

Kera doesn't syndicate listings to Kijiji, Facebook Marketplace, Zumper, Rentals.ca or similar sites, and it doesn't host a listing page with photos. Workaround: post the listing yourself and include the Kera application link.

Customize the application form

Kera doesn't let you add, remove or reorder questions, or ask about pets, vehicles, occupants or co-signers. Workaround: ask follow-up questions by email or phone.

Collect documents on the application

Applicants can't upload pay stubs, ID or reference letters with the form. Workaround: ask for them by email, then file them in Documents (Chapter 08).

Charge an application fee

Kera doesn't collect fees or deposits from applicants. Screening is charged to the manager.

Joint or co-applicant applications

Each application is for one person. Workaround: each adult submits their own application through the same link.

Let applicants edit, withdraw or track an application

Applicants have no account or applicant portal and can't see their status. A second application from the same email to the same listing is refused. Workaround: the applicant contacts you with changes.

Notify applicants of status changes or rejection

Kera emails applicants only to confirm receipt and for screening. Workaround: tell the applicant yourself.

Edit an applicant's answers or add notes to an application

Kera has no notes field on applications, and managers can't change submitted answers. Workaround: keep notes on the tenant record after acceptance.

Search or export applications or tenants

The Applications and Tenants lists have no search box or CSV export. Workaround: use the global search to find a person.

Turn an accepted applicant into a lease in one step

Accepting creates the tenant (after you save Add tenant). The lease is a separate step.

Verify income or employment

Screening doesn't confirm income, and Kera doesn't contact employers or references. Workaround: ask for proof of income and call references yourself.

Screen applicants outside Canada, or use a screening provider other than The Great Renter

Kera's screening is with The Great Renter only, for Canadian rentals.

Cancel a screening once it's placed, or get a refund for a completed check

Only orders waiting for the applicant or with a failed payment can be cancelled. Checks that fail are refunded automatically. For other billing questions, contact Kera support (support@getkera.com).

Download, print or share a screening report from Kera

The report is viewable on the application's Screening tab only.

Explain or dispute report contents

Kera support can't interpret credit or watchlist results. Applicants with questions about their report contact The Great Renter at privacy@thegreatrenter.com.

Resend or cancel an "Invite a new applicant" screening before they apply

The order isn't visible in Kera until an application arrives. It expires with no charge after 14 days.

Open a whole multi-unit building for applications with one switch

Each unit has its own switch and link.

Message tenants who haven't joined Kera or aren't on an accepted lease

In-app chat needs a tenant account and an accepted lease. Workaround: email or phone, or invite them to the portal first.

Merge duplicate tenant records

Kera doesn't merge two tenants. Workaround: archive the extra record if it was never on a lease, or delete it.

Delete a tenant who was ever on a lease

Workaround: archive them, which keeps their history.

Share library documents with tenants, or give tenants a Documents page

Tenants see documents only through their lease.
