How do I group existing properties into a building?
ForProperty managers
Who can do this
Organization members with Edit Properties. Making a new building also needs Create Properties. Landlords and staff limited to assigned properties can't.
Where to find it
A single-unit property → Actions → Add to a building; or Properties → Add Property → Units in a building → Use existing properties.
Steps
- The Group into a building dialog opens with the properties at the same street address already ticked.
- Choose New building and enter a name, or Existing building and pick one.
- Untick any property that doesn't belong. Use Add another property to search for others.
- Click Group N properties.
What happens next
A toast "Grouped N properties into <name>" with Open building. Each property gets the building's name in its label and shows Part of <building>; the building page lists them. Owners, contracts, leases, statements and history don't change. A new building takes its address from the properties.
Limits
- Kera doesn't group multi-unit or part-of-a-home properties, or properties already in a building.
- Two units in a building can't share a unit number.
- A property with no unit number can be grouped, but add the number from Edit so notices show it.
Troubleshooting
- "Unit X is already in <building>": another unit in that building, possibly an archived one, has that number. Change one of the numbers first.
- "Unit X is selected twice. Keep one of them.": untick one of the two.
- A property doesn't appear in search: it's multi-unit, part of a home, archived or already in a building.
