What kinds of property can I add to Kera?
ForLandlordsProperty managers
Who can do this
Landlords, and Organization members with Create Properties.
Where to find it
Properties → Add Property → "What kind of property are you adding?"
Steps
- Kera asks for the kind first, because it decides which questions come next. There are three kinds:
- Single unit: a standalone property rented to one tenant or household, like a house, condo or individual apartment. Kera creates the property and one unit for it.
- Multi-unit: a property with several rental units under one roof or complex, managed together but leased separately. You add the units while creating it.
- Part of a home: you rent out part of a property, such as a basement, a room or a shared space within an occupied home. In the Properties list filter this kind is called Partial.
- A property created in older versions of Kera may carry another stored type (for example "condo"). Kera treats any type that isn't multi-unit as a single-unit property.
Good to know
Only a single-unit property can change kind later, and only to multi-unit (see "How do I turn a single-unit property into a multi-unit building?"). Multi-unit and part-of-a-home properties keep their kind.
Limits
Kera doesn't let you change a multi-unit building back to single unit, or change a part-of-a-home property to another kind. Workaround: create a new property of the right kind and archive the old one.
