How do I turn a single-unit property into a multi-unit building?

ForLandlordsProperty managers

Who can do this

Landlords, and Organization members with Edit Properties.

Where to find it

Property → Edit → Make it multi-unit.

Steps

  1. Open Edit on a single-unit property and select Make it multi-unit. The badge changes to "Multi-unit" and the units step opens: "The unit this property has now is kept. Add the others here."
  2. Add units with Add a unit or Add a range, then Continue.
  3. Select Save changes. The Changed list shows "Kind: Single unit → Multi-unit" and the new unit numbers.

What happens next

The page switches to the building layout, with a Units tab and no Application card.

Good to know

Keep it single unit (before saving) cancels the change. Saving with no new units makes it a building with its one existing unit.

Troubleshooting

  • "This unit number is already on the property": the number is used by an existing (or archived) unit.
  • "Property saved, but some units weren't added — Add the rest from the property page.": the property is now multi-unit with the units added before the failure. Add the rest with Add unit.
