What is the Wallet?

ForLandlordsProperty managers

Who can do this

Landlord; Organization admin; Organization members with View Wallet.

Where to find it

Side nav → Wallet

Steps

  1. The Wallet is the Stripe account Kera uses to receive rent, deposits and business invoice payments made online through Kera.
  2. The Wallet balance card shows the Stripe balance (available and pending).
  3. Under it, Available to you is what you can pay out to yourself. When money is held, a line under it reads "$X held for owners and tenants" (or "$X held for tenant deposits").
  4. Select Available to you to open the breakdown: Held for owners, Held for reserves, Held for tenant deposits, or "Nothing is held for owners or tenants right now." The caption explains: "Only money collected through Kera and still in this balance is held here. What you owe owners overall is in Accounting under Owner payables." (In Accounting the tab is named Distributions.)
  5. Below the card is the transaction list. Rent charges are titled with the tenant's name, business invoice charges with the customer or invoice number, and payouts with "Account ending NNNN". Use the footer to page through and pick 25 or 50 rows a page.

Good to know

With Hold owners' money in Wallet off (the default), owner money isn't held. The breakdown reads Owed to owners, not held and Held for tenant deposits, with "You can cash out money owed to owners and pay them another way. To keep it here until you pay owners through Kera, turn on Hold owners' money in Wallet settings."

Limits

The Wallet only shows money that went through Kera's online payments. Cash, cheques and e-transfers you record are in Accounting, not the Wallet.

Troubleshooting

  • "We could not load your wallet. Check your connection and try again." with Retry: a loading failure. Retry; if it persists, contact Kera support.
  • "Could not load the balance breakdown right now.": the held amounts couldn't be calculated, so Payout is disabled until it loads.
  • Wallet is missing from the side nav: the member's role lacks View Wallet.
