What is the difference between a single-unit property and a multi-unit building?

ForLandlordsProperty managers

Who can do this

Everyone who can view properties.

Where to find it

Properties → a property.

Steps

  1. A single-unit property behaves like one rentable home. Its page has a Lease tab (lease details and tenants), an Application card for taking applications, and an Add lease shortcut. In the Properties list its row shows the tenants, the monthly rent and an Add lease button when it has no lease.
  2. A multi-unit building holds units. Its page opens on a Units tab instead of a Lease tab. Leases, tenants and applications belong to each unit, so the building has no Application card. In the Properties list its row shows "N units", an orange "N vacant" badge and a See units button.
  3. Inspections, maintenance requests, tasks, documents and transactions can be filed against the whole building or one of its units (see "Can I pick a whole building instead of a unit?").
