How do I check a lease for compliance?

ForLandlordsProperty managers

Who can do this

Landlord, Organization admin, Organization members with Create Leases or Edit Leases.

Where to find it

Add lease (or Edit) → Add the lease document → the Check compliance link under the attached document.

Steps

  1. Attach a document (uploaded, generated or the standard form).
  2. Click Check compliance. The Lease Compliance dialog opens and the check starts by itself ("Running compliance check...").
  3. Read the verdict (Compliant, Non-Compliant or Unknown), then Findings (each tagged Minimal, Low, Moderate, Significant or Urgent), Analysis, Detailed Findings and Recommendations.
  4. Use Copy Output to copy the report, or Re-run Check after changing the document.

What happens next

Nothing is changed on the lease. The report isn't saved; copy it if you need to keep it.

Limits

The check is AI review against the property's province. It doesn't replace a lawyer and doesn't guarantee compliance. A lease is marked Non-Compliant only for Significant or Urgent issues. The check runs from the lease composer only; there is no compliance button on the lease page or in Documents.

Troubleshooting

"No lease document found. Upload the lease, then run the check again." means no document is attached. "Couldn't run the compliance check." with a reason: try Re-run Check.
