How do I archive, restore or delete a property?

ForLandlordsProperty managers

Who can do this

Archive and restore: Edit Properties. Delete: Landlords and roles with Delete Properties (Organization admins by default).

Where to find it

Property → Actions → Delete (or Archive). Delete is also in Edit → Delete.

Steps

  1. Select Delete (members without delete permission see Archive).
  2. In "Delete <name>?", wait for "Checking what this affects" to finish. For a building, the dialog says how many units are affected.
  3. Choose Archive or Delete.
  4. To restore an archived property, open it and select Restore on the archived banner, or Undo on the toast right after archiving.

What happens next

  • Archive: "Archived <name>". The property and its units leave the active list, Edit is disabled, the Actions card shows only the lifecycle action, inspections are read-only and tags can't change.
  • Restore: "Restored <name>", with its units.
  • Delete: "Deleted <name>" and you return to Properties. Its units, open work orders, tasks, documents, draft inspections and applications are deleted with it.

Troubleshooting

  • "End the lease on … first." with Go to lease: the property has an accepted, partly accepted, pending or current record-only lease. End or cancel the lease first (see the Leases chapter); neither archive nor delete is allowed.
  • "This property has ledger entries, invoices, bills or deposits linked to it. Archive it instead if you want to keep the history." with View accounting: delete is blocked, archive still works.
  • From Edit → Delete, the dialog is "Delete Property" ("Are you sure you want to delete this property: …?"); a blocked delete shows the same reasons, and the button becomes Close.
