Who can use Kera Accounting?

ForLandlordsProperty managers

Who can do this

Landlords and Organization users. Tenants and owners don't have an Accounting page (tenants see Payments; owners see Financials, chapter 10).

Where to find it

Side navigation → Accounting.

Steps

  1. Have an active Kera plan. Without one, Kera opens the Unlock the full Kera experience dialog instead (see "Why does Kera send me to an upgrade screen when I add a transaction?").
  2. In an organization, ask an admin to give your role the accounting permissions you need in Settings → Roles & Permissions (chapter 02).
  3. Open Accounting from the side navigation.

What happens next

The page opens on the Overview tab.

Good to know

  • Landlord: sees the tabs Overview, Bills, Invoices and General Ledger. There's no Distributions tab, because landlords have no owners to pay.
  • Organization: sees Overview, Bills, Invoices, Distributions and General Ledger. Distributions needs the Owner Disbursements & Statements permission (chapter 10).
  • The organization accounting permissions are: View Accounting, Create Transactions, Edit Transactions, Delete Transactions, Generate Financial Reports, Manage Bank Connections, Approve & Post Transactions and Owner Disbursements & Statements. Configure Accounting Settings controls the Accounting tab in Settings. The default Employee role has View, Create, Edit and Reports, but not Approve & Post, Owner Disbursements & Statements or Manage Bank Connections.

Limits

The Accounting item in the side navigation is switched on per account. If a customer with a paid plan doesn't see it, the page still opens at /landlord/accounting; contact Kera support (support@getkera.com) to have it switched on.

Troubleshooting

  • No Accounting item in the side navigation: the account's accounting switch is off, or (organization) the role lacks View Accounting.
  • "Could not load accounting": see "What does 'Could not load accounting' mean?".
