What happens when someone declines to sign?

Any signer can decline.

Where to find it

The signing screen → I can't sign this.

Steps

  1. The signer selects I can't sign this. The dialog "Decline to sign?" says "The sender will be notified and this document will be closed for signing."
  2. They can give a reason and confirm.

What happens next

The signer sees "Document declined" / "We let the sender know." (guests see "Signing declined"). The manager gets "<name> declined to sign" ("…Because they were a required signer, this request is now closed."). The card shows Declined with the reason. Fix what's needed and send a new request.
