What does a row reading "2 entries" mean, and how do I resolve it?

Who can do this

Anyone with View Accounting; voiding a copy needs Approve & Post Transactions.

Where to find it

Accounting → Overview (also the Bills and Invoices tabs).

Steps

  1. Click the stacked row, for example "Hydro One · 2 entries" with "Same payee, amount and date as an earlier transaction".
  2. Read the copies listed inside: who entered each and when, and its status.
  3. If it's a real duplicate, click Void the <date> copy (or Void the newest copy), keep or edit the reason ("Duplicate entry"), and confirm.
  4. If they are genuinely separate, click They're separate, keep both (or keep all 3).

What happens next

  • Void: "Transaction voided" (or "Bill voided" / "Invoice voided"). The newest copy is voided and the figures drop.
  • Keep: "Kept as separate entries". The copies show as normal rows and won't stack again.

Both copies count in the figures until you resolve the stack.

Good to know

  • Without Approve & Post Transactions you only see They're separate, keep both.
  • If the newest copy already has a payment, the stack offers only the keep button; void the other copy from its own ⋮ menu.
  • Recurring entries, bank feed rows, e-transfers, CSV imports, migrated entries, rent invoices and rent months never stack.

Troubleshooting

"Failed to void the copy" or "Failed to keep both" shows the server's reason (for example a closed period). Nothing changed; fix the cause and try again.
