What does "In force" mean when I edit a lease?

ForLandlordsProperty managers

Who can do this

Landlord, Organization admin, Organization members with Edit Leases.

Where to find it

Lease page → Edit.

Steps

  1. Once every tenant has accepted (status Active), the lease is a contract. Edit shows the line "This lease is accepted, so its unit, term, rent and payments are in force. Change them with the actions beside each one."
  2. The unit, term, rent, online payments, deposit, first bill and management fee steps become muted cards with an In force badge and no Edit.
  3. Each card offers the right door instead: the term has End lease, the rent has Increase rent, online payments reads "Billing is set; the tenant is already paying" (or offers Turn on online payments if rent is collected outside Kera), and the deposit has Manage deposit.

Good to know

Tenants, the document, the rent schedule and notes can still be edited on an Active lease.
