How do I place fields in the PDF editor?
ForLandlordsProperty managers
Who can do this
Landlords and Organization users, in Prepare mode only.
Where to find it
PDF editor → Fields panel ("Drag onto the page or click to add").
Steps
- Drag a field onto the page, or click it to add it to the page you're on. Field types: Signature, Text, Text Area, Checkbox, Radio, Dropdown.
- With a field selected, use Assign to (or, in Recipients, "Turn on each person who should complete this field.") so the field belongs to a signer. Fields show the assignee's colour and label.
- Use the field toolbar: Required, Edit (Field name, Placeholder, Width, Height, and Options for dropdowns and radios), Duplicate (on this page, or On every page), and Delete.
- Shift-click several fields to change them together ("<n> selected").
- Select Save. The header shows "Unsaved changes", "Saving", then "All changes saved".
Good to know
- A Dropdown with no options shows "No options" and "Add at least one option so signers can choose." until you add one with Add option.
- On the standard lease form, some fields offer Use on future documents, which saves that value for your future leases.
- On a phone, tap a field to get a docked bar (Required, Edit, Duplicate, Delete); Add field opens the field list.
- Other header controls: zoom in/out (Ctrl + / Ctrl -), Reset zoom to 100%, Fit to width, show or hide the pages panel, Download, and More actions.
Limits
There is no separate date field type; use a Text field. Signature fields are required by default.
Troubleshooting
Closing with unsaved fields asks "Save your changes?" with keep editing, discard or save options.
