What are Prepare, Fill & Sign and View?

Who can do this

Prepare: Landlords and Organization users. Fill & Sign and View: everyone with access to the document.

Where to find it

PDF editor → the mode button in the header (for example "Prepare ▾").

Steps

  1. Prepare: "Place fields and choose who signs."
  2. Fill & Sign: "Fill in and sign your fields." Only fields assigned to you are editable; other people's entries are shown but locked.
  3. View: read-only.

What happens next

If you switch from Prepare with unsaved fields, Kera asks "Save your fields first?" with Stay in Prepare, Continue without saving and Save and continue. The mode menu also shows a note "Your new fields aren't saved yet…" with Save.

Good to know

Once a lease is accepted, expired, rejected, terminated or cancelled, its document opens in View only. Owners and tenants never see Prepare.

Troubleshooting

"Fields added in Prepare are not saved yet, so they cannot be shown here…" at the top of the document means you continued without saving; go back to Prepare and select Save.
