How does e-signing work in Kera?
ForLandlordsProperty managers
Who can do this
Landlords and Organization users (admins, and members with lease edit rights) prepare and send. Tenants, owners and people without a Kera account sign and view.
Where to find it
Lease signing starts from the Add the lease document step of Add lease or Edit lease. Signing also runs inside inspections, notices and end-of-tenancy agreements (see those chapters).
Steps
- The manager attaches a document and opens it in Kera's PDF editor in Prepare mode.
- They choose who signs, who just gets a copy, and in what order, and place fields for each signer.
- Saving the lease sends the request.
- People with a Kera account sign from their portal with Sign now. People without an account get an email link, confirm a 6-digit code and sign in their browser. Nobody needs an account to sign.
- When everyone has signed, Kera produces the signed PDF and a signing certificate, and emails everyone.
Limits
Only landlords and managers can prepare documents. Owners, tenants and guests can fill and sign their own fields and view, never place fields. Kera doesn't let a manager send an arbitrary Documents-library file for signature on its own; lease signing runs through the lease. There are no saved signing layouts that place fields automatically; fields are placed for each document.
