How do I change or remove a bank account's opening balance?

Who can do this
Landlord; Organization users with Edit Transactions.
Where to find it
Settings → Accounting → the account → Edit; or Overview → the opening balance row → ⋮ → Open bank account.
Steps
- Change Opening balance and its As of date, or clear it (or enter 0) to remove it.
- Click Save.
What happens next
"Changing it voids the old opening balance entry and posts the new one, so the account and your books stay in step." The change is recorded in the audit log.
Troubleshooting
- "Unlink this opening balance from its bank transaction before changing it."
- "This opening balance is part of a finalized reconciliation, so it can't change."
- A closed period: "Couldn't update bank account" with the closed-period message.
Limits
Opening balances are only for operating accounts. Trust and deposit trust accounts start from their recorded activity.
