How do I turn email delivery of legal notices on or off?
ForTenants
Who can do this
Tenants on a pending or active lease.
Where to find it
Leases → the lease → Notice delivery preferences.
Steps
- Find the Enable online notice switch. The text explains you consent to receive legal and lease-related notices by email at your account email.
- Turn it on or off. No confirmation is asked.
What happens next
On: Email notices turned on. Off: Email notices turned off / "We've let your landlord know. Notices already emailed to you stay served, and new ones will reach you another way." Your landlord is told by email and in the app either way, and you get a receipt email. Your choice is recorded with the date; turning it off doesn't erase the history.
Good to know
- When you join a lease through an invitation, the switch starts on.
- Your own choice overrides any setting your landlord made on the lease.
- Your landlord can only serve notices to you by email through Kera when every tenant on the lease has it on and the province allows email service (Ontario, BC, New Brunswick, PEI, Newfoundland and Labrador and Saskatchewan). See Chapter 06.
- The card is hidden on expired, terminated, cancelled and rejected leases.
Limits
This is not legal advice. Kera doesn't decide whether email service is valid in your situation.
