How do I sign my lease or another document sent for signature?

ForTenants

Who can do this

Tenants named as signers.

Where to find it

The email "You have a document to review on Kera" or "It's your turn to sign on Kera" → Review document, or Leases → the lease → Signatures card.

Steps

  1. On the Signatures card, click Sign now. The card shows "<n> of <m> signed" and each signer's status (Not sent, Sent, Viewed, Signed, Declined).
  2. The first time, the Consent to electronic signatures dialog opens. Tick "I have read and agree to sign electronically and to Kera's Terms of Service" and click Continue to document.
  3. Complete the fields marked for you and save.

What happens next

Your row changes to Signed and the next signer is notified. When everyone has signed, the card reads "Everyone has signed." with Download signed document and Download certificate, and you get a completion email with the signed copy.

Good to know

  • Ontario Standard Lease: the first tenant must answer the "Notices by email" question (yes or no, not both) before signing. Other tenants don't answer it. Your answer sets whether the lease accepts notices by email.
  • With a signing order, you see "Not your turn yet" until earlier signers finish.
  • After you sign while others are still signing, you see "You've signed the lease. Waiting for <name> to finish signing before you can accept." Once everyone signs, "Everyone has signed. Preparing the final signed document…" shows briefly, then you can accept.

Troubleshooting

"The signing request for this lease was canceled. Ask your landlord to send a new one." or "<name> declined to sign this lease…" means the request ended. Your manager must send a new one.
